Day 1 transfer to lake Mburo after arrival

On arrival at Entebbe international airport, you’ll picked up by our guide who will lead you to your booked hotel/ lodge for relaxation before heading out to lake Mburo national park.

Lake Mburo game park has the highest number of zebras in Uganda along with giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes and other herbivores animals. The park has only leopards of the wild big cats thus being so friendly to walking tours in the park. In the afternoon you will set off for Bwindi impenetrable gorillas’ national park.

A tour of the vast Queen Elizabeth national park on this safari will start from the Ishasha sector which commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions. You’ll then go deep in the various parts of the park to enjoy elephant & buffalo herds, leopards, antelopes, giraffes, hyenas, large hippo pods while on a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel among others vistas. The park lies at the equator and you’ll cross the equator land mark as you also enjoy sightings of the Rwenzori peaks and ranges.

  • On the first day after breakfast, you will set off for your first Rwenzori trekking by the Nyakalengija trial which covers distance of 1,600 m. The trail will take you through Bakonjo homes and farmlands following the Mubuku river trail from where you will again cross river Mahoma before trekking through the montane forest to reach Nyabitaba hut at 2,650 m above sea level where you will spend the first night.
  • The second day will see you trek through a small trail down to Kurt Shafer Bridge just before the junction of rivers Bujuku and Mubuku. You’ll progress from the forest zone into a bamboo region where the trail is slippery and moss-topped. A massive lobelia groundsel vegetation and heather appears before the Nyamileju rock shelter before crossing a swamp to the John Matte hut at 3,350 m where you’ll have dinner and spend the second night too.
  • On the last trekking day, after your morning breakfast, you will start trek a trail smashing down to cross the Bujuku River and arrive at Inferior Bigo Swamp, home of massive lobelias. You’ll then cross the swamp to the Higher Bigo swamp before proceeding to Lake Bujuku at 3,900 m where sightings of the uppermost mountain Stanley in the west are best viewed and thereafter proceed back to the park gate to winding up your Rwenzori mountain hiking adventure.
