Scuba Diving
SCUBA stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Scuba diving is a recreational diving whereby divers use breathing equipment that is completely independent of a surface breathing gas supply. Scuba diving makes us do several activities known to be effective stress relievers, such as paying attention to our breathing and appreciating life more so with the of the under-water creatures, coral reefs and plants. Some of the best places in the world to enjoy scuba diving are the East African coast at Diani Beach, Mombasa in Kenya and the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar with sand white beaches and crystal clear water that allow you to clearly explore the ocean floor near the shores, a surely stress relieving and mind relaxing activity. Scuba diving is one of the best ways to end an African safari and trip and quit relieving after days of tracking, wildlife game drives, hiking, trekking and beautiful nature and community walks.
Scuba diving primarily involves moving underwater by using fins attached to the feet, but external propulsion can be provided by a diver propulsion vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface. Other equipment needed for scuba diving includes a mask to improve underwater vision, exposure protection by means of a diving suit, ballast weights to overcome excess buoyancy, equipment to control buoyancy, and equipment related to the specific circumstances and purpose of the dive, which may include a snorkel when swimming on the surface, a cutting tool to manage entanglement, lights, a dive computer to monitor decompression status, and signaling devices.
