Rwenzori trekking circuit routes/trails;

Central circuit route

The central circuit trail is the oldest trail that leads to the snow capped mountain peak of Margareta. This trail passes through 5 vegetation zones of the Rwenzori mountains national park offering unique sceneries of valleys, Rwenzori endemic species, wild game, mountainous rocky peaks, sun horizons to mention but a few. The central trail is the shortest and easiest of all trails to reach to the snow capped Margarete peak on Mount Stanley which takes 7 days and 6 nights to accomplish the hike.

Kilembe circuit trail

The Kilembe circuit trail also know as the southern circuit is longer than the central circuit trail taking up to 8 days of trekking. This trail gives more trekking time and less pressurizing to accomplish the hike. This hike guarantees breath taking sceneries, lakes, glaciers and has safe tracks along the montane vegetation.

Bukurungu circuit trail

The Bukurungu circuit trail was established after the central and Kilembe circuit trails to combine a feeling of nature and the trekking activities. This trail offer sceneries of rivers, water falls, tropical forests, lakes (Bujuku, Bukurungu, Irene and Mughuli). The water sources are some of the sources of the river Nile. This trail takes 8 days to reach the highest peak of Margareta. This trail is commonly used for camping unlike the others that have huts.

Rwenzori mountain trekking safaris can be as short as a 1 day hiking experience to the first station that is about 12 km to as long as 15 days and also combined with other activities such as gorilla trekking, game drives, birding, chimpanzee tracking, golden monkey tracking among others.
