Where to go mountain climbing in Uganda/Hiking in Uganda

Uganda has amazing hiking spots all around the country from the highest peaks of mountain Rwenzori (5109 m), mountain Elgon (4321 m), mount Sabinyo (3669 m) in the Virunga massif  among other hills in Kidepo valley national park (mount Morungole-2,750m) Lake Mburo national park, Murchison falls top, Bwindi impenetrable forest during gorilla trekking and Mgahinga mount trek (3,473m) to the gorillas…

Mountain Elgon has some of the best display of mountainous vegetation zones at various altitudes. It takes 4-6 days to accomplish hike using trails to the top of the world’s largest caldera. During this hike you get to caves, rivers, water falls, bird species and different plant species at different altitude of this highland.

Apart from the highest peak Margareta, the Rwenzoris comprise of 16 snow capped peaks 5 of which are among the 10 highest peaks in Africa. The Rwenzoris have the most perfect vegetation-altitudinal zones that have existed for millions of years and are seen along the 3 hiking trails to the summit. You will have the best views that you will see nowhere on the continent.

Trekking to the top of mountain Sabinyo; a border point for 3 countries, Uganda, Rwanda and D.R. Congo being at its most top peak will leave you amazed and at the geography of these 3 countries that share the Virunga massif. The 1 day trek into the mists of the Virunga massif easily accompanies gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking from the Mgahinga national park.
